The game is set in a German castle which is preparing for an annual celebration - a celebration of the fact that the legendary monster that supposedly plagued the castle in centuries past. I have enjoyed all of them, but "The Captive Curse" was especially enjoyable, in my opinion. I've played all but the newest of the Nancy Drew games. Also, the scare-factor wasn't too bad, especially since SAW.Nancy Drew Travels to Germany to Stop a Monster in This Thrilling Game So, overall, CAP was really great for me! I loved it and I would recommend it to anyone wondering if they should buy it. Like the older games, I think I would want to play this one over and over again. I loved the combined feel of TRT, CUR, and even DOG a bit. I felt like this game was less complicated and more fun like the old ND games. Going Back to the Oldies: 9/10 I think HeR did a great job in trying to go back to the "Golden" age of ND games. I felt like I could play the whole thing without going online, and finally felt like I actually played the game myself! Pleased me! I'm not a big person for hard, difficult puzzles, so I was really glad that all of the puzzles were easy to solve without message board help or a walkthrough.

Puzzles: 10/10 This was the one thing that really I got frustrated because I was always getting om trying to follow the map! I felt like the map was way off from what the forest was actually like. For me, I really, really didn't like the woods. I also wish there were more places to explore, but I also understand you can also create only so many places. At first, I was really happy because I felt like I was getting lost in the castle, similar to TRT, but soon I realized it wasn't to hard to find my way around. Setting: 7/10 The one thing I would probably complain about in this game would be the setting. I especially loved Lukas because he was so cute and Renate because she almost reminded me of my grandma! Each of them had good motives to be the monster and try to destroy Castle Finster/Markus. There have been other games when my favorite character was the culprit and I get sad, but not this time!Ĭharacters: 8/10 The characters, for me, were very well developed. For me, I wasn't too attached to who the culprit was in the end so I wasn't upset at all. But, I also thought they did a great job making the culprit obvious in the end. But, other than that factor, the plot flowed smoothly like any other ND game.Ĭulprit: 9/10 HeR did a really awesome job in framing another suspect instead of the actual culprit. I felt like a lot of loose ends were left untied. The same thing happened for me when I played SAW. I was curious as to who was the monster in the past and where all of those girls who disappeared went! It frustrated me, especially because HeR seems to be making a trend of this. Plot: 7/10 I thought this area was pretty well developed except for the end. It made me really excited! I also liked how it changed depending on where you were, which is normal for HeR to do, but I enjoyed it all the same. I especially loved the introduction of chorale music to the background in this game. So, without further ado, here's my review! Hey everybody! I recently finished playing The Captive Curse, like most Nancy Drew fans, and I absolutely loved it! I enjoyed it so much that I'm pretty sure it's now one of my favorite games.
